Saturday, 2nd September - Palm Springs

We are both jet-lagged and sleeping in!  Walked to – guess where – Sherman’s! for brekky.  On the way back, stopped to look at shops – Linda found a great dress shop, ‘Frenchy’s’ and possibly would still be in there except for David who was ready to move on!  Nice clothes.  Decided to drive out to Palm Desert for a look.  Saturday afternoon – the locals all must come out for a shop – it was busy on the road and in the car parks!  We think everyone was chasing the air conditioning in the mall.  Quick look around and then off to Pier 1 Imports and Total Wine!  Pier 1 always has cool stuff – found some trinkets!  Total Wine was even more fun as David had already scouted it out and found there was Wine Tasting - for a dime!  We tried 6 wines – Sav Blanc, Rose, and 3 reds.  The guy was pretty generous with the amounts!  Met some other tasters and had a laugh – especially about how dangerous and scary Australia is with all of those nasty spiders! LOL!

On the way back to our hotel, we saw a Cheesecake Factory restaurant and just had to pull in.  It was after 3pm and we expected the place to be fairly deserted – but it wasn’t.  Was told there’d be a 10-15min wait for a table, but there was only one other couple waiting!  Anyways, we were seated and fed.  Glorious food and great service!  Took a takeaway slice of our favourite – ‘Linda’s Chocolate Fudge Cake’ for later on….

Enjoyed a swim in the hotel pool – like a bathtub temperature.  What was so great were the birds!  Looking at hummingbirds darting in and out of the lantana!  Red and pick coloured flowers!  There were also some brown little birds that looked to me like sparrows.  It was all very relaxing!
